The Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra Tourism Essay Essays The Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra Tourism Essay Essay The Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra Tourism Essay Essay VGKK was founded by Dr. Sudarshan in October 1981 with G.S. Jayadev as financial officer and eight representatives from the Soliga community to work for the public assistance and upliftment of the Soliga folk. The Soliga are a tribal community populating the Biligiri Rangana ( B.R ) and associated hill ranges in Southern Karnataka, largely in Chamarajanagar District, surrounding the Erode territory of Tamil Nadu. Dr. Sudarshan found the land worlds and issues in B.R Hills and his religious values led him to establish an organisation which will be entirely devoted to welfare of tribal community. In the initial old ages, VGKK operations were wholly dependent on generousness of its sympathizers as there was no authorities grants and international involvement. In 1983, VGKK infirmary was built. Dr. Sudarshan s friends from abroad and V. Krishnamoorthy from Bangalore were the first givers to the infirmary. Subsequently on more contributions followed from Humanist Institute for Cooperation with Developing Countries ( HIVOS ) from Holland, EZE from Germany who donated for tribal lodging and the school edifice undertaking and the Christian Children s Fund, which helped in instruction and community heath. But now, the Kendra gets regular grants from Government of India ministries of wellness, instruction and rural development programmes and works with specialist organisation in different countries. Dr. Sudarshan Born in Yemalur small town, near Bengaluru, in 1950, Sudarshan Reddy decided to go a physician at the age of 12, when he accompanied his male parent to a small town infirmary and his male parent died because of deficiency of medical aid. He graduated from Bangalore Medical College in 1973 and became a physician. In the class of his instruction he found great inspiration in the Hagiographas of Swami Vivekananda, and after a four twelvemonth stretch working with the Ramakrishna Mission, he chose a calling way unlike the norm of prosecuting his medical practise in the metropoliss. Alternatively, he approached Dr. Narasimha who was working in the tribal countries of the Nilgiris. In 1980, as an Integrated Tribal Development Project, Dr. Sudarshan started the Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra ( VGKK ) in the B R Hills part near Mysore. Get downing from wellness, VGKK now covers instruction, authorization and support support, germinating into a comprehensive tribal development programme. Schools set up under VGKK have produced 4 PhD holders from the Soligas community, all of whom are functioning their community in different ways. In schools, tribals are taught to beef up their roots. They are taught in their ain idiom and encouraged to portion their cognition about woods, traditional patterns and appreciate their rich cultural heritage. Building on the work done with the Soligas, Dr. Sudarshan founded the Karuna Trust, in 1986. It is affiliated to VGKK, and is chiefly involved with Integrated Rural Development in Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh and Orissa. Dr. Sudarshan is the receiver of many awards for his work with the Soligas. In 1994, he was awarded the Right Livelihood Award, besides known as Alternative Nobel Prize, for demoing how tribal civilizations can lend to a procedure that secures the basic rights and cardinal demands of autochthonal people and conserve their environment. To avail this, VGKK is expected to bear at least 10 % disbursals of running the school on its ain. Often, VGKK spends more than this stipulated 10 % for which it receives funding from a few corporate givers such as the Infosys Foundation. An of import point to observe here is that the disbursals spoken of here include the costs of books, nutrient and letter paper for all the pupils. VGKK besides runs a library and secondary school for the pupils utilizing these grants. The tiffin VGKK provides is covered under the Mid-day Meal strategy of the State Government for the 300 pupils who do non remain in the VGKK premises. This includes buying land at a touristry friendly location and so puting up the installations for doing it pulling clients. In most of the instances the cost of land in India histories for about 50 % of entire undertaking cost. This acts as a major hindrance for a new entrant in the industry. Since location plays a really large function in the success of a resort, here there is a considerable first mover advantage. Brand trueness of clients like TAJ, Mariott affects the new entrants. In India the outgo revenue enhancement, luxury revenue enhancement and gross revenues revenue enhancement inflate the leisure cordial reception measure by over 30 % . Effective revenue enhancement in the South East Asiatic states works out to merely 4-5 % . Menace of replacements A menace from replacements exists if there are alternate merchandises with lower monetary values of better public presentation parametric quantities for the same intent. They could potentially pull a important proportion of market volume and hence cut down the possible gross revenues volume for bing participants. Handiness of options for disbursement holidaies increases the replacements. Customers are assortment seeking and look for new ways to pass their holidaies therefore increasing opportunities for replacements. The monetary value fluctuation of same category of services from assorted trade names is one of the grounds to take a replacement. The present demand and supply of resorts is one of the grounds to take a replacement. Competitive competition There is widespread competition among the rivals. Entry of new large participants in this market has enhanced the extent of competition. Emergence of newer types of resorts which differentiate on footing of services and locations. Metro metropoliss with flush in-between category and corporate offices more attractive and therefore see a overcrowding of resorts. Dickering power of providers Suppliers include the suppliers of different points for serving the clients. Not excessively strong as figure of providers of nutrient, cordial reception are immense. Most of the specialized services are managed by resorts itself and non outsourced. Dickering power of purchasers Being of replacements increases the bargaining power of the purchasers. Buyers are extremely informed about the picks available to them. Switch overing costs are really low and therefore purchaser power is high. Customers are assortment seeking and look for new ways to pass their holidaies. Resorts Industry Situation Analysis: Resort hotels are besides termed as wellness resort or beach hill resort and so depending on their place and location. These leisure hotels are chiefly for vacationists who want to loosen up and bask with their household. Most resort work to full capacity during extremum season. Gross saless and gross fluctuate from season to season as the tenancy varies as per season. Assorted combinations of these factors provide suited conditions for different types of resorts to come up and supply different types of experiences to tourers, either international or local. Growth of the touristry in India has created a immense demand and supply spread in this sector. A turning involvement in touristry, both international and local, provides a colossal chance for the growing of hotels and resorts. The portion of India in international touristry has been turning over the old ages and is expected to turn quickly. This has lured many participants in this market. With a lifting income the Indian families have higher disposable income which could be spent on touristry. The growing of flush center and upper category has created demand for touristry related services and provides a immense chance for resorts to boom. Government is passing a batch on edifice this sector by developing new finishs and circuits. The budgeted allocation for the touristry sector has been increasing for guaranting the development of this industry. Besides tonss of strategies have been launched to advance touristry. Menaces: The hapless substructure in the state is biggest challenge that the industry faces. Due to hapless substructure the locations which could be exploited for edifice resorts and tourer Centres are non able to be developed. Developing such resorts demands substructure for guaranting proper connectivity to large metropoliss so that tourers could be able to make such resorts and proper services could be provided to them. Slow execution of the authorities strategies for the development for the industry is besides a great hurdle. The strategies take infinite executing clip due to decelerate and bureaucratic authorities machinery. The industry is to a great extent influenced by the political environment of the state. The non so healthy internal security state of affairs in India poses the biggest challenge for the industry. Due to security concerns a big figure of tourers hesitate in utilizing the tourer installations available and this farther hampers the development of new Centres and installations. The cyclical nature of the industry brings with itself the built-in hazard of being affected by the economic state of affairs in India and other parts of the universe. The capacity of the populace to pass money is what determines the way which the industry takes. Literature Reappraisal: All around the universe vacation resorts have been considered as critical service-oriented leisure touristry merchandises. In recent old ages, India has besides seen proliferation of resorts. The Chernobyl Nuclear Accident

The Chernobyl Nuclear Accident The Chernobyl disaster was a fire at a Ukrainian nuclear reactor, releasing substantial radioactivity within and outside the region. The consequences to human and environmental health are still felt to this day. The V.I. Lenin Memorial Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station was located in Ukraine, near the town of Pripyat, which had been built to house power station employees and their families. The power station was in a wooded, marshy area near the Ukraine-Belarus border, approximately 18 kilometers northwest of the city of Chernobyl and 100 km north of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station included four nuclear reactors, each capable of producing one gigawatt of electric power. At the time of the accident, the four reactors produced about 10 percent of the electricity used in Ukraine. Construction of the Chernobyl power station began in the 1970s. The first of the four reactors was commissioned in 1977, and Reactor No. 4 began producing power in 1983. When the accident occurred in 1986, two other nuclear reactors were under construction. The Chernobyl Nuclear Accident On Saturday, April 26, 1986, the operating crew planned to test whether the Reactor No. 4 turbines could produce enough energy to keep the coolant pumps running until the emergency diesel generator was activated in case of an external power loss. During the test, at 1:23:58 am local time, power surged unexpectedly, causing an explosion and driving temperatures in the reactor to more than 2,000 degrees Celsius- melting the fuel rods, igniting the reactor’s graphite covering, and releasing a cloud of radiation into the atmosphere. The precise causes of the accident are still uncertain, but it is generally believed that the series of incidents that led to the explosion, fire, and nuclear meltdown at Chernobyl was caused by a combination of reactor design flaws and operator error. Loss of Life and Illness By mid-2005, fewer than 60 deaths could be linked directly to Chernobyl- mostly workers who were exposed to massive radiation during the accident or children who developed thyroid cancer. Estimates of the eventual death toll from Chernobyl vary widely. A 2005 report by the Chernobyl Forum- eight U.N. organizations- estimated the accident eventually would cause about 4,000 deaths. Greenpeace places the figure at 93,000 deaths, based on information from the Belarus National Academy of Sciences. The Belarus National Academy of Sciences estimates 270,000 people in the region around the accident site will develop cancer as a result of Chernobyl radiation and that 93,000 of those cases are likely to be fatal. Another report by the Center for Independent Environmental Assessment of the Russian Academy of Sciences found a dramatic increase in mortality since 1990- 60,000 deaths in Russia and an estimated 140,000 deaths in Ukraine and Belarus- probably due to Chernobyl radiation. Psychological Effects of the Chernobyl Nuclear Accident The biggest challenge facing communities still coping with the fallout of Chernobyl is the psychological damage to 5 million people in Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia. The psychological impact is now considered to be Chernobyls biggest health consequence, said Louisa Vinton, of the UNDP. People have been led to think of themselves as victims over the years, and are therefore more apt to take a passive approach toward their future rather than developing a system of self-sufficiency.† Exceptionally high levels of psychological stress have been reported from the regions around the abandoned nuclear power station.   Countries and Communities Affected Seventy percent of the radioactive fallout from Chernobyl landed in Belarus, affecting more than 3,600 towns and villages, and 2.5 million people. The radiation-contaminated soil, which in turn contaminates crops that people rely on for food. Surface and ground waters were contaminated, and in turn plants and wildlife were (and still are) affected. Many regions in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine are likely to be contaminated for decades. Radioactive fallout carried by the wind was later found in sheep in the UK, on clothing worn by people throughout Europe, and in rain in the United States. Chernobyl Status and Outlook The Chernobyl accident cost the former Soviet Union hundreds of billions of dollars, and some observers believe it may have hastened the collapse of the Soviet government. After the accident, Soviet authorities resettled more than 350,000 people outside the worst areas, including all 50,000 people from nearby Pripyat, but millions of people continue to live in contaminated areas. After the breakup of the Soviet Union, many projects intended to improve life in the region were abandoned, and young people began to move away to pursue careers and build new lives in other places. In many villages, up to 60 percent of the population is made up of pensioners, said Vasily Nesterenko, director of the Belrad Radiation Safety and Protection Institute in Minsk. In most of these villages, the number of people able to work is two or three times lower than normal. After the accident, Reactor No. 4 was sealed, but the Ukranian government allowed the other three reactors to keep operating because the country needed the power they provided. Reactor No. 2 was shut down after a fire damaged it in 1991, and Reactor No. 1 was decommissioned in 1996. In November 2000, the Ukranian president shut down Reactor No. 3 in an official ceremony that finally closed the Chernobyl facility. But Reactor No. 4, which was damaged in the 1986 explosion and fire, is still full of radioactive material encased inside a concrete barrier, called a sarcophagus, that is aging badly and needs to be replaced. Water leaking into the reactor carries radioactive material throughout the facility and threatens to seep into the groundwater. The sarcophagus was designed to last about 30 years, and current designs would create a new shelter with a lifetime of 100 years. But radioactivity in the damaged reactor would need to be contained for 100,000 years to ensure safety. That is a challenge not only for today  but for many generations to come.

Organsiational Behaviour Assignment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Organsiational Behaviour Assignment - Essay Example In order to achieve this, OB it interprets people-organization relationships existing in any organisation in terms of the whole person, organization, and social system. The main objective of OB is to develop better relationships by achieving organizational objectives, human objectives and social objectives. From its definition, it is clear that OB encompasses many topics that are critical to an organisation such as human leadership, change, behaviour, teams among others. In order to address all these areas, OB requires contributions from various fields. This brings out one character of OB, that is, it is a multi-disciplinary field. There are various disciplines working in the field of OB that have made contributions to the subject. These are psychology, sociology, social psychology, anthropology and political science. These are the major behavioural science Contributions of various disciplines to OB. Psychology Psychology is a science that seeks to understand, measure, explain and ev en change the behaviour of people and animals. The major concern for psychologists therefore is to study of the behaviours of individuals in an attempt to understand them. People in psychology who have contributed significantly and continue to add to the knowledge of OB are counseling psychologists, personality theorists, earning theorists and most important, organizational and industrial and psychologists. Psychology has contributed to OB through many contributions that assisted in forming the study of OB. Examples of areas of contribution include motivation, leadership, learning. personality, perception, training, job satisfaction, performance appraisal, individual decision making. One of the contributions of psychology to Ob is that it has provided a means of measuring leadership effectiveness. according to Baron (2007), psychology has provided various ways of measuring leadership. In relation to this, it has provided way of developing statistical models of behaviours and attribu tes that make up an effective organisational leader. Job satisfaction is among employees is important as it determines the effectives of the organisation. Psychology has contributed to this area by providing a secret oh now an organisation can exploit its employees. Braksick (1999) explains that on how an organisation provides an opportunity and environment to bring out the best in its workforce is certainly its ability to explore the psychology of its employees. Individual decision-making among the members of an organisation affects an organisation. Psychology reveals that the tendencies to make the right decisions or those that will benefit the organisation are attributed to the psychological and the cognitive state of the individual. The statistical works of psychology relates to attitudes of members and this is an important contribution to OB. it directs that how an organization is to reward and manage its members and create policy must include their mindsets and align them to t he objectives of the organization. Psychology has had on important contribution how to achieve optimal performance and efficiency in an organisation by touching on work design so as to meet organisational goals. Through psychology, the management of an organisation is able to understand that the interconnection of an employee and their environment include temperature climate, machinery and that associated stressors

Satera Assignment - Term Paper Example Pinto should also consider the abilities and sources of motivation for both of senior engineers. During crucial confrontation, problem should be calmly described by Pinto and feedback of both persons should be taken. Pinto should adopt an honest and straightforward approach whilst presenting his ideas. He should make Lovas and Bennett to realize that designing an innovative imaging support structure is a shared purpose of organization. If Lovas and Bennett have complaints against each other they should have facts to support their claims. Once both parties discuss complaints, Pinto should then highlight the consequences of their conflicts on organization, their personal lives and on other colleagues. Based on the personality attributes of Lovas and Bennett in Table 1, Pinto should motivate and encourage their role in the company. Pinto should motivate Lovas by adopting his honeybee structure and he should motivate Bennett by giving him the challenge to make this structure light weight and a new innovation. Although facing the resistance of Bennett will appear as a major a challenge for Pinto however, through his good relation with both parties and his unbiased behaviour, he can appear as a good enabler. To keep confrontations on right track, Pinto should adopt a focused and flexible approach. He should be sensitive to the feelings of both the parties and his should be to develop a mutual trust. Moreover, before wrapping up the discussion, Pinto should clearly explain the tasks for Lovas and Bennett, the timeline to complete the task and the mode of communication through which Pinto will follow up the progress. In the plan, the role of Pinto as a facilitator and enabler has increased based on the fact that Pinto has been dealing with such confrontations earlier. It has mentioned that confrontations are usually mishandled because of meekness and

Art Paper Essay Example for Free

Art Paper Essay The picture shows a tree almost completely bare of its leaves. Shot vertically from an upward perspective, it is set against a clear but dusky sky. The slender reddish-gray tree features a slight elbow-like stump near the base, suggesting an initial angled development before growing up straight. The main branches forks from around the tree, as the lesser and fine branches appear to swing around and entangle in the crown area. The bark of the tall trunk itself is rather smooth and the fine branches on top seem dainty and struggling for new foliage. Beneath, the stump and the visible area below it appear hazy, as these spots obviously form closest to the camera lens that took the photograph. The picture juxtaposes the shadowed underside of the tree branches against a dim bluish sky. Bibliography Perspective_Tree.jpg (Picture). Index of /~jpadley/Images/Mindy_Sarah. Beyond the Common Myths of Hypnosis Essay examples -- essays research

â€Å"I shall use hypnosis to turn you into my slave!† roared Dr. Drake, as a bolt of lightening split the sinister sky behind him, to his defenseless victim who curled into a quivering ball at his fearful threat. This is a common theme in many horror movies involving hypnosis. Not only is â€Å"Dr. Drake† over-exaggerating on his statement, his declaration is simply ridiculous in the reality of hypnosis! It is essential to wipe out those common misconceptions of hypnosis encouraged by those fictional tales, and get down to the truth of hypnosis, its real power, its techniques, its role in the medical field, and its relationship with hypnotherapy. Sadly, an average person’s knowledge of hypnosis generally turns out to be common misconceptions promoted by the Medias and fictional books. One of the most popular misconceptions of hypnosis suggested that a hypnotized person naturally falls under the control of the hypnotist, which is completely false for he can only be hypnotized if he agrees to be. In some supernatural films, a hypnotized person is even portrayed to possess supernatural power under hypnosis. Once again, it holds no truth; hypnosis does not play a role in increasing or decreasing physical strength at all. As for those who have seen an adult subject remembering the details of his childhood toy, memory is not at all more accurate under hypnosis. The same guy who may be describing his childhood toy is still completely capable of lying to his hypnotist. Although he may be â€Å"reliving† his childhood while under hypnosis, most often the patient tends to go beyond the childhood stage and into their past life making it impossible to select a specific age in their stage of youth (Franzoi184). These are the most common misleading pieces of information on the abilities of hypnosis on its patient. Before going in depth on the true abilities of hypnosis, the origin of hypnosis must be unraveled. Going back almost 4000 years ago, hypnosis first originated in China, India, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and other ancient civilizations (Chaves 212). However, modern hypnosis traces more directly back to Franz Anton Mesmer, a German physician of 18th Century who â€Å"rediscovered and popularized hypnosis† (Smith 173). He believed that there was a â€Å"subtle fluid† that made up the universe including the human body. He concluded that when a person fell ill, whether emotionally or physica... ...ertain parts of hypnosis required to be used on a patient. While hypnosis can be used in many different ways, hypnotherapy focus mainly on strengthen an individual’s ability to cope with daily life. Obtaining the facts on the relationship between hypnotherapy and hypnosis was the hardest part of this research. I also learned the characteristics of hypnosis and the truth to the common misconceptions. I gained knowledge of the origin of hypnosis and its history. I also learned various methods of hypnotic induction and the facilitation of hypnosis in the society, although it would have been better if I could go deeper in depth on its techniques. I found out that self-hypnosis is possible and happen in one’s daily life, but I do wish that I had the chance to discuss of about its methods and techniques. In addition, I discovered that not everyone is susceptible to hypnosis; in fact, five to ten percent out of the whole population are unresponsive to hypnosis. This was ve ry surprising to me, for I had thought that everyone can be hypnotized in some ways. Through the process of writing this I-Search paper, I enjoyed replacing the old misconceptions of hypnosis with the new genuine facts.

Hobson’s Choice Summary Essay

The class divisions of the 1880s are clear to see in the little scene when Alice, Vickey and Hobson find out Maggie intends to marry Willie. Alice says, ‘what you do touches us’ and this is true, as Maggie’s marriage to a man from a lower social class would be seen by many as a disgrace. Hobson says that Willie’s father was a ‘work-house brat’ and that he would be the laughing stock of Salford if he allowed Maggie to marry one of his workmen. At this stage, Maggie does not seem to be thinking about starting up in business on her own, merely working in the shop as before but being paid for it. Willie seems to be a down-trodden, easily intimidated man. He has no doubt been bullied by Hobson for years. Hobson however misunderstands Willie when he takes his belt to him as this physical insult changes Willie immediately who is outrage and, in his temper, kisses Maggie. Hobson is amazed and doesn’t know how to respond. ACT TWO Scene One Act Two opens a month after Maggie and Willie have left Hobson’s. The business is obviously in trouble and Alice and Vickey are finding it hard to manage things without Maggie. We learn that they have lost a lot of their high-class trade. Alice doesn’t know how to organise the work in the workshop and tells Tubby to carry on making clogs. Hobson is spending more of his time in the Moonraker’s. Alice is finding it difficult to balance the books. This brief scene serves to prepare us for the decline of Henry Hobson and the rise of Willie Mossop. Vickey and Alice wish they were married and their plans will soon be furthered as a result of their father’s excessive drinking. Scene Two Maggie announces that she has heard of the relationship between Vickey and Freddy. She sends Freddy to fetch Albert Prosser. Freddy explains that Hobson has fallen down their cellar trap and is unhurt but sound asleep on some bags. Notice how quickly Maggie thinks. She has just met Freddy outside Hobson’s shop and from what he has told her, immediately works out a plan to get money out of Hobson for the weddings of her sisters. Scene Three We learn in this scene that Willie now has his own shop. Maggie is obviously proud of the progress they have made in such a short time. She is determined that Willie will be treated with respect as part of the family and makes her sisters kiss him as a token of their acceptance of the situation. Maggie is also quick to cut Alice down to size when Alice says, scornfully, ‘Willie Mossop was our boot hand’. She is quick to point out that Willie is master of his own business and her sisters are just shop assistants. Maggie announces that she and Willie will be married at one o’clock at St. Philip’s church. She buys a brass ring to use as a wedding ring. This shows that Maggie has her feet firmly on the ground as she is not prepared to waste money on sentiment when they need all the money they can to get their business off the ground. Willie and Maggie use a hand-cart to take away some of Hobson’s old and unused furniture. Alice and Vickey are appalled that Maggie is willing to live in two cellars using secondhand furniture. Alice and Vickey clearly want to start married life with everything new and this shows the difference between them and Maggie. Vickey’s selfish streak is apparent when she sees the two broken chairs Will is carrying out and immediately resents Maggie having them. Maggie has always been confident and in this scene is even more sure of herself. Her language is the language of command. When Alice tries to tell her that she doesn’t know what she is aiming at, Maggie replies swiftly, ‘The difference between us is that I do. I always did’. There are also signs in this scene that Willie is growing in confidence from the timid, frightened, dirty workman who first appeared.

When Emery disliked that idea, he puts his head down, and Todd tries to comfort him. Emery makes the list not because he hates his brother Todd for the things he lists, but to make him feel better about Todd asking out the girl Emery â€Å"loves†. Emery is jealous of his brother Todd because he is so much better than everything than him and he is more popular. It’s a common rivalry between older and younger brothers. Todd actually cares about Emery but he always takes everything Todd does in a negative way. The moral of this story is that you can’t stay mad at your family members forever, family always sticks together.

LinkedIn Is it for Everyone Even Yoga Teachers

LinkedIn Is it for Everyone Even Yoga Teachers When I get interviewed or just talk to people about LinkedIn, one question I often get is, â€Å"Does everyone need a LinkedIn profile? Are there some professions where you don’t need one?† I typically respond that there are some job titles where having a LinkedIn profile is not essential for a job search. Nursery school teachers and plumbers might not find their jobs through LinkedIn, nor, probably, will nurses or doctors- at least not right now. And I still recommend that people have a profile. Why? For one thing, the professional world is constantly changing. Seven years ago, I was telling lawyers that LinkedIn was not the most important place for them to be for their job search. Lawyers are notoriously slow to catch on to emerging technology (most firms insisted on using the dinosaur WordPerfect for years after everyone else had switched to Word). But now most attorneys I encounter find value in LinkedIn, both in the realm of job search and for networking purposes. Why Yoga Teachers Need LinkedIn Profiles One profession that might not be an obvious choice for LinkedIn success is â€Å"yoga instructor.† But LinkedIn posted a blog on March 7 about Rebecca Mayne, a woman who built a thriving yoga business using †¦ yep, you guessed it †¦ LinkedIn. Rebecca did something many yoga teachers fail to do: she created a LinkedIn profile. Soon she discovered that yoga studio owners were looking on LinkedIn for teachers. They hired her! She then built her network by connecting on LinkedIn with her students, which led to a private session at someone’s workplace, followed by classes for the organization’s employees. Not only has Rebecca’s corporate yoga business exploded, but she is now training new teachers to do what she does. She was able to do all that because of LinkedIn. And I’m willing to bet that when a corporation is interested in hiring her, the first thing they do is look at her LinkedIn profile. What About Other Professions? A March 9 article from Wellesley College’s newsletter explored this issue as well. Overall, Wellesley students reported that they found the LinkedIn alumni group to be very useful in their networking efforts. One public health student, Sophie Gilbert, reported meeting with 10 alumnae for coffee, which gave her huge value as she was learning about her field. She also regularly reaches out to Wellesley alumnae in organizations that interest her- a practice that could very well lead to a job after graduation. Says Sophie, â€Å"LinkedIn can be quite helpful for public health even though there is no specific group for it. You can search for degrees like [Master’s in Public Health] or keywords that have to do with public health and find tons of alumnae who are working in this very broad field. Other than speaking with professors at Wellesley, LinkedIn is all there is for networking in public health.† Sophie Kerwin, in contrast, is a student curatorial research assistant interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Art History, leading to a career in academic or curatorial work. She has not found LinkedIn to be valuable in pursuing an academic career in art history. Still, she has found it useful as a way to track the career paths of other academics and curators. She has followed a best practice of modeling her profile after theirs, a strategy I recommend highly. â€Å"More people from the museum world are utilizing professional networking sites, but few people from the academic world utilize them,† she said. â€Å"Most of the networking I’ve done in both fields has been in person [or] through connections I’ve made at Wellesley either in the Art Department or at the Davis Museum.† I agree, based on my experience, that the academic and art worlds have not embraced LinkedIn as fully as have some other professions. But that doesn’t mean they won’t, perhaps even within the next year. Why LinkedIn Can Be for Everyone For everyone, regardless of profession, LinkedIn can be a place to learn, network and explore. There are groups for almost every profession, and if there’s not a group for yours then you can start one. I’ll bet that â€Å"if you build it, they will come.† As the Wellesley article stated, â€Å"†¦ the site cannot replace other means of networking such as developing in-person connections or creating accounts with career-specific websites.† But that doesn’t mean you should not create a profile and milk it for all it’s worth.

King William II of England - William Rufus

King William II of England - William Rufus William II was also known as: Wlliam Rufus, the Red (in French, Guillaume Le Roux), though he may not have been known by this name during his lifetime. He was also identified by the nickname Longsword, given to him in childhood. William II was known for: His violent rule and his suspicious death. Williams forceful tactics earned him a reputation for cruelty and led to extreme dissatisfaction among the nobility. This has caused some scholars to theorize that he was assassinated.   Occupations: KingMilitary Leader Places of Residence and Influence: Britain: EnglandFrance Important Dates: Born: c. 1056Crowned King of England: Sept. 26, 1087Died: Aug. 2, 1100 About William II: A younger son of William the Conqueror, upon his fathers death William II inherited the crown of England while his elder brother Robert received Normandy. This caused immediate turbulence among those who thought it best that the Conquerors territory remain united under one rule. However, William was able to crush the rebellion of those seeking to put Robert in charge. Several years later, he had to put down a revolt by English noblemen. William also had trouble with the clergy, most especially Anselm, who he appointed Archbishop of Canterbury, and earned the enmity of Anselms supporters, some of whom later wrote chronicles casting the king in a bad light. In any case he was much more interested in military matters than clerical issues, and saw successes in Scotland, Wales and, eventually, Normandy.   In spite of the friction William seemed to spark throughout his reign, he managed to keep the political ties between England and Normandy strong. Unfortunately for him, he was killed in a hunting accident when he was only in his 40s. Although theories still circulate that he was murdered by his younger brother, who followed him to the throne as Henry I, there is no strong evidence to support this hypothesis, which on close inspection seems fairly unlikely. Network topology design & layout Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Network topology design & layout - Essay Example The company will also need two WWW servers so that one is for its internal management and another for external users. Furthermore, a mail server will also be crucial in this case. For the sake of ABC company security, it is crucial that outsiders should not gain access to the internal CVS or internal WWW servers whatsoever. For a start-up open source software company as the company ABC, it would be a great challenge to fully implement an effectively secured network. In this study we therefore purpose to realize the company with the above specifications. Below is a graphical representation of the network design layout. It is very risky running an entire company on a personal computer. The ABC Company needs to watch over servers that handle the web based systems with advanced expertise. Such servers in this case include CVS and WWW servers. In terms of security assumptions, it is important for the company to make its security appear good as argued by Cheswick et al (2003) that this is enough to deter attackers. It is also important to make simple security arrangement since complex things are harder to comprehend and might even be nightmare to their designer (Cheswick et al, 2003, pp.5). For a young company as ABC, it would be inappropriate to use huge security-sensitive programs because in most cases such programs have acted as sources of security problems. Furthermore, the companys network designer must keep security assumptions in mind and see to it that the security is an integral part of the original design. Let us begin by considering this typical policy: Internal users are trusted, and with permitted Internet access they are able to initiate ongoing TCP connections, issue DNS queries, be able to run ping trace-route and set their clock aided by external time server (Cheswick et al, 2003, pp.5). Secondly, the outsiders should not be able to initiate access to the internal world.

Gp3 performance management and employee services Research Paper

Gp3 performance management and employee services - Research Paper Example It will allow them cooperating in a professional manner towards the accomplishment of their goals and objectives. Apple Inc is a real life example that has the following pattern and model in practice. Google inc. is another example of the same kind where free hand and communication means are provided to the employees and they make use of their efforts in a completely cordial manner. The two of them have uniform system of operations where the appraisal systems are intact and the employees get regular and timely feed back with regard to their contributions and efforts in the overall projects at hand. The performance management program which is based on effective communication and equal opportunity imparting to the different domains will allow for the clear goals determination and easy accomplishment of the tasks. Talent management and communication build up models were the two performance management and overall productivity enhancement models and programs suggested and initiated for the purpose of improvement in the organization. Out of the two short listed programs (talent management and communication enabling means), the latter was chosen. This was chosen so based on the realization of the need for an effective communication channel presence in the modern times where enterprises are connected by the virtual means of communication (Lesikar, 2005, p 3).
